Little Marco learned something in his spectacularly failed presidential campaign: He picked up Trump's propensity to tell a big lie and just stick with it. In this case, it's the lie that Rep. Patrick Murphy has voted against every Zika funding bill. That's led to one more fact check from Politifact on Rubio's attacks, making it four in just one week this month: September 8, September 8 again, September 9, and September 14.
That last one really irks Patrick Murphy, because it's Rubio playing on the very real fear of Zika that many Floridians share. Rubio has insisted that Murphy "voted against every measure to fund Zika." In fact, as Politifact noted, Murphy "has offered other solutions and voted against his party for two bills that would have allowed unspecified amounts of money to be repurposed for Zika programs." Because he wants to do what's best for his constituents.
Meanwhile, Rubio is touting his support for Zika funding, but telling Florida's women that they shouldn't be allowed to have an abortion if they find out the fetus they're carrying might be infected. He's touting his Zika credentials even after voting against funding for the health care centers, like Planned Parenthood, that provide basic health care—including birth control.
Murphy's campaign provides this statement in rebuttal:
"Since Marco Rubio struggles with the truth, here it is: he stands with his political party instead of Floridians, puts his extreme views on women's health ahead of Florida families, and failed Florida on the Zika crisis. Florida deserves leadership, not Marco Rubio's political games and partisan lies," said Murphy campaign spokeswoman Galia Slayen.
For all his posturing about Zika, Rubio is now officially, at least as far as Politifact is concerned, as full of shit as every other Republican. But you don't need any fact checker to tell you that.
