Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid had a lot to say on the subject of Donald Trump Tuesday morning, all of it true and none of it nice. The part that will really get to Trump, though, is Reid's contention that the reason Trump isn't releasing his tax returns is because he was "born with an inheritance but lost his daddy's wealth." He's "not worth nearly as much as he claims to be," Reid said. "That's a secret he doesn't want anyone to know. He wants everyone to think he's this big, rich, rich man."
"In lieu of real business success," Reid continued, "Donald Trump resorts to scams like Trump University," which in all of Trump's "doozies," is "one of the best, the best scams." Reid teed up the big Trump revelation of the day, how Trump used other people's money in his foundation to buy his way out of legal problems. Reid mocked Trump's charitable giving with the numerous media reports of how Trump uses other people's money—charitable donations—to buy himself things like Tim Tebow's football helmet. "If he doesn't have the money himself—which he obviously doesn't—then he uses other people's money," Reid said.
This is what the Republican party has embraced, Reid pointed out.
"So this is who the Republicans want to be our president? This is who the Republicans—Leader McConnell, Speaker Ryan—want this man to prepare a budget for our country? Trump can't be trusted with his own charity. Are we supposed to believe he can manage the nation's treasury, provide money for our armed services or homeland security?"
"Our country," Reid warned, "is Trump's next target. He wants this to be his biggest payoff ever." Can you chip in $3 to help Hillary Clinton keep Donald Trump out of the White House?
