I know some people believe it doesn’t make sense to ask Bernie, Hillary or Martin their views about climate change since everybody knows they aren’t deniers. And besides, a climate-change question was asked in the first Democratic debate in Las Vegas. Isn’t that enough? What is the point of asking another when there are so many important issues to deal with?
After all, it’s only the future of civilization at issue. Not something important like Hillary’s pantsuits or Bernie’s waist size.
In fact, there are very good reasons for sussing out the nuances among the candidates on this subject.
And, even if there were no differences on how important a crisis they believe we face, it would be valuable for everyone to hear what these three Democrats plan to do as president to ameliorate and adapt to the impacts that global warming is having on us now and will have in the future. How would they deal as president with a Congress brimful of people who still think climate science is bogus?
What are the views of these candidates on the “all of the above” approach to energy production? Do they think the solution is all about supply, all about demand, or a combination?
Will each of them make dealing with climate change a big part of their campaign once the nomination is secured? Or will they whisper when they mention to avoid pissing off the know-nothing brigade?
