This is hard to believe. Just a few days before the Iowa caucus, Hillary Clinton is in Philadephia tonight at a gala fundraiser hosted by Franklin Square Capital, a $17 billion investment firm. What the hell is her campaign staff thinking? She is locked in a dogfight with a populist who is raising money at $27 bucks a pop and has made campaign finance a major issue. She is competing in a critical rural state in the midwest, and she’s on the East Coast hanging with the big money boys— WTF? I’m wondering if there is anyone on the Clinton team who is aware that the optics here aren’t helpful. Maybe they are so insulated in their own arrogant bubble that they just don’t get it or don’t care. It costs $1,000 to get in the door, and some of the ‘bundlers’ will be contributing $27,000. She originally had another big-money fundraiser scheduled in New York, but decided to postpone that until February. Some of the people involved with this event were Clinton associates while she was Secretary of State. The Intercept has more...
