Donald Trump is skipping Thursday night’s Fox News debate because Megyn Kelly—a girl!—might ask him some tough questions, but it’s a sign of strength, okay?
“When you’re mistreated, as we were with the Iran deal, our country should have walked,” Trump said. “I was not treated well by Fox. . . . I said, ‘How much of this do you take?’ ”
Megyn Kelly = Iran. Debate questions = nuclear materials. Gotcha. Not even Bill O’Reilly’s history of buying Trump vanilla milkshakes could lure Trump back to Igyn Kellran. Of course, Iran isn’t Kelly’s only role in this whole thing:
Donald Trump continued his onslaught on Fox News host Megyn Kelly on Thursday, retweeting a follower who criticized a photo shoot she did for GQ Magazine.
“And this is the bimbo that’s asking presidential questions?”, the tweet said. It included two photos of Kelly posing provocatively and the following text: “Criticizes Trump for objectifying women ... Poses like this in GQ Magazine.”
Which kind of brings us full circle, since it was a question about exactly that kind of thing that really kickstarted Trump’s conviction that Kelly is mean and unfair.
Will Trump’s play here work? Rush Limbaugh says yes, “by not showing up, he’s owning the entire event”; Newt Gingrich says no, Trump’s making “a substantial mistake, creating a vacuum and a new dynamic where someone could emerge.” I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
