Fox News reporter Monica Crowley’s tweet from last year is recirculating today with a photo of the Berlin wall, and she’s praising it for an example of the fact “Walls Work”
The Berlin wall has often been cited as a place of gruesome crimes against humanity and attacks on decency. US Presidents denounced it, and more recently, Germans have looked back on history at the horror show it left behind.

It was always obvious that East Germany's border guards were ordered to shoot at people trying to flee to the West. Had no such order existed, they wouldn't have killed an estimated 1,100 defectors making desperate bids for freedom across the Berlin Wall or the minefields of the 860-mile border between East and West Germany. Most of those victims were shot -- 18-year-old Peter Fechter, for example, who bled to death at the foot of the Wall in August 1962 after guards fired into his back as he tried to escape.
The stories of the wall are horrible, terrible tales of communist repression, fear tactics and orders to Stasi police to shoot and kill all who sought freedom.
But in the new order of Trump, forgiving the Russia goes all the way back to promoting divisive ideas of the USSR, and showing that a “wall worked”.
Well, it isn’t often I cite Reagan back to conservatives but:
Defending the Berlin Wall. Not deplorable at all, I suppose. Good Grief.
UPDATE: I've been attending voter candidate meetings in Missouri all day so I have missed most of the commentary. This tweet began re-circulating this morning due to comments about how well walls work in relation to Trump’s policy.
