If you live in, or know anyone who lives in, Washtenaw County, Michigan — the great cities of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, plus Chelsea, Dexter, [some of] Milan, Saline, along with the villages of Barton Hills and Manchester and many smaller townships which you can find listed here — then this link is for YOU.
A small but dedicated group of county elected officials and activists has put together this comprehensive Election/Voter Guide to promote Democratic candidates and the non-partisan candidates who have been endorsed by the Democratic Party. It includes profiles of the major candidates and a sample county-wide ballot, plus other tips for voters. We’re mailing to a targeted audience and have about another 40,000 to deliver to certain doors.
Can you help? We need to circulate news of this website FAR AND WIDE. We also need canvassers to help get the paper copies distributed.
Please Kosmail me or, if you prefer to keep a bright line between your Daily Kos persona and your real-life identity, send an email to poc AT washtenawdems DOT org to let us know you are ready and eager to help.
Thank you for everything you can do. The down ballot races are so important in Michigan — including our state Supreme Court and our state house — we cannot afford to focus entirely on the top of the ticket. [In case you haven’t heard, Judges Frank Szymanski and Deborah Thomas are the candidates for the state Supreme Court running with Democratic support. In a happy coincidence, their names start with S and T: Stronger Together. :) ] For those living in the four-county area who get to vote on the Regional Transit Authority millage, which is perhaps the last shot we in Metro Detroit will have to get a decent mass transit system created for another generation, this election is crucial too.
I’ll write up more about the Supreme Court election and the RTA millage soon. But for now, I’m asking for your help with this project. Together, we can transform Michigan. It will take ALL of our best efforts to do so, starting now. Are you with me? Let’s go win!
