What happens when you go to a Trump rally in a shirt written in Spanish and people assume you are there to support the immigrant-hating candidate, Donald Trump? Supporters and even the own candidate’s family scramble to take photos with you. The only problem? You are there protesting and the ignorant Donald Trump fans have no idea your shirt actually says “Latina against Trump!”
That’s what happened to 23-year-old Annie Cardelle and her sister, Ceci Cardelle. See her pics and read her surprising story below:
From the Huffington Post:
Annie, who attended the event with her 17-year-old sister, Ceci Cardelle, said she was “shocked” that they were able to pull off the baldfaced stunt.
“Neither of us thought that we’d get a photo with him,” Annie told The Huffington Post on Sunday. “I actually wore a sweater over it because I thought that [otherwise] we wouldn’t get in.”
“We thought it was going to be very hard. We thought we’d be told to leave or go back,” Ceci added.
Not only were they NOT asked to leave, they were given a photo op with Eric Trump and his wife! Annie says this is simply indicative of what happens when you have little to no diversity in your campaign:
“We didn’t see anyone there that was Latin American or that we thought could speak Spanish,” Ceci said. “While we were surprised that no one really noticed, I really think that it stands as a testament to the lack of diversity surrounding that campaign.”
Way to go Cardelle sisters!
