I have seen diaries tracking votes for states like NV, FL, NC, TX, etc., but have not seen one for Colorado. The Colorado SOS website does publish updated voting information by party daily, and I am summarizing these numbers graphically here, relative to the final early vote (EV) turnout in 2012 (I don’t have the 2012 day-by-day turnout). Note that the final 2012 EV turnout was 36.1% R, 34.3% D, and 29.6% other, so even though Obama won relatively easily, there were actually more Republican early voters in 2012.
So far in 2016, Democratic early votes are outpacing Republican ones 21.3% to 19.8% (where 100% is the 2012 EV total). The gap on 10/29 and 10/30 is for over the weekend — no SOS reports were produced.
This is an early diary with statewide totals only. I have some county results that I will update later, but just a quick teaser for 2 of the larger and more lopsided counties (Denver — predominantly D, and El Paso — predominantly R):
County |
2012 total EV
(Dem/Rep Ratio)
|
2016 to date
(Dem/REp Ratio)
|
Denver |
3.22 |
3.83 |
El Paso |
0.47 |
0.54 |
This means that more Democrats are voting relative to the final 2012 EV numbers in both counties. For Colorado, so far things are looking good — better than 2012.
