Get ready to see a lot of white, everywhere, in government. All posts. All chambers. All spokespeople. All appointees. And mostly male, along with a smattering of people of color.
Just after the House GOP caucus met Tuesday to elect a new leadership team (now consisting of seven white men and one white woman, plus Ryan), House speaker Paul Ryan talked up the total unity of his caucus at a press conference and proclaimed their commitment to "every citizen in this country who's worried about the future."
Number one, to all Americans, to every citizen in this country who's worried about the future of this country, who's worried about their future, who's worried about the direction we've been going, we hear you and we are here to fix problems. We're very excited to get to work. This leadership team is unified, this entire House Republican conference is unified. And we are so eager to get to work with our new president-elect to fix America's pressing problems.
Ryan promised that his all-white leadership team would confront America's problems head on "so that all of our citizens are better off."
So, in terms of problem solving, you can expect an 8 to 1 representation on what men think is important and, conversely, a 1 to 8 representation of what women find important.
Also, if you're a person of color, you can expect no representation whatsoever of your point on view in the leadership of "The People's House."
