I love looking at this photo above, no matter how unfinished this home looks. It’s because I see the deck attached to a house, a home — and I see the shininess of what will be windows. And up on top I know there is a roof.
Right now, Aji and Wings’ home is still unfinished — although with the help of so many, it has gotten this far from this:

and this:
The exterior of the current state of this homebuilding is in preparation to apply the outside plaster. I’m very eager to see this process begin! However more important at this stage is completing the close-in of this home. Interior-wise, I think Aji and Wings already know that this will be done over time, however closing up the house — their home — needs to be done now. You see, with the results of this election, the surgery on Wings’ knees may be in jeopardy. If things change with healthcare, he may not be able to get this required surgery. Surgery is scheduled soon, but we’re desperately trying to get Aji and Wings into their home, under a roof, so he can more easily recover and recuperate from the surgery. Anyone who has gone through knee surgery knows how brutal the pain can be and also that recovery can be long.
Aji’s last update with photos was on November 16 — that’s because there have been delays between weather (yes, they have gotten snow! But worst, the winter winds are also beginning to pick up) and the need that the crew to be off to take care of personal business. But I suggest you read her last post on her blog because it details more of how and why the current work is being done! Here are two photos reflect vents that were put in — to assist with air flow within the house.

Any amount of donations to these wonderful and most giving people who I love so dearly will be money going towards a positive action. And at this point in all our lives, I think we need to find something positive to work towards that we control and politics cannot affect. We are shy of just a little more than $500 to meet a match that has been generously put forward so that we can help Aji and Wings fund windows for their home. We’re striving towards the $12,226 mark so that the tally then can double with the match to $13,226!
If we could get just 10 people to donate $50, we would reach the goal to get that match to kick in. Every dollar helps though, big or small.
HOW TO HELP
- The YouCaring fundraiser allows you to donate specifically to this cause. You can also share the fundraiser via social networks by using the “Grab Our Widget” button (and other social media buttons) on that page.
- Their Amazon wishlist mostly supports the health needs of their rescue animals and themselves, if that’s more your style.
- Purchases from Wings Silverworks will help them make a living the way they’d prefer, by selling Wings’ work as an exceptionally talented NDN silversmith and photographer.
- If you prefer, donate via PayPal at Aji’s blog, or at her Tumblr blog where she posts her own writing and photography.
- Kosmail belinda ridgewood if you absolutely need to donate by mailing a paper check.
- And Tweet, share on FaceBook, tip/rec/republish on Daily Kos, randomly email your friends about it, drop it into casual conversations. This seems minor, but it is not! When you share, please link to this YouCaring page, or embed the widget!
And just a reminder — it’s cutting it close timewise, but now is the time to make any special orders with Wings if you are hoping to gift someone with something special. I believe there may also be some charms that are left? These are those that were made as special thanks to those following Aji and Wings’ story, and are offered at a reduced price. Here is my badger paw charm and how I wear it on a necklace. Badgers are fierce and don’t back down — that’s me. :)
