The headline on CNN’s Politics page read, “Clinton's Hill supporters ready to hit Sanders after New Hampshire”, quoting several notable Capitol Hill Democrats, including Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer.
There was something about the cynicism these Dem Party insiders clearly have re: Bernie Sanders’ chances that imbued me with an elevated a sense of urgency.
Bernie Sanders is preaching an approach to Democratic Party politics that is completely foreign to them. They have all gotten to their powerful positions the traditional insider way; through polished performances behind the microphone + not-to-be-shared appeals to wealthy donors.
But now Bernie is showing the establishment leaders of the Dem Party a whole new way to approach the game of politics, one that is built almost entirely upon resolute adherence to moral conviction and a determination to make the democratic process more democratic.
They don’t understand it.
They don’t believe it.
They all want to believe that Bernie’s idealistic daydream will all soon run its course and fade away…
And yes, that is what motivated me to go ahead and double the contribution that I had planned to make tonight.
You see, we Bernie Sanders supporters have an opportunity right now to teach these cynics within the Democratic Party a lesson they’ll long marvel at.
Keep in mind that at the root of their cynicism is their core belief that it is not possible to compete with the Republicans without sucking up to the Big Donors. It is the reason why they have compromised away so many of the ideals that the Democratic Party used to stand for.
The one thing that will finally shake these people out of their cocksure conceit is witnessing the awesome fund-raising prowess of the Bernie Sanders approach to national politics.
He turns to the people he wants to be obligated to, the average Americans of modest financial means, counting on their vast numbers (multiplied by $10-$20 per month) to amass the kind of spending power that he will ultimately need to be able to overcome the vast resources of The Oligarchy and their well-heeled minions within the Republican Party.
I want very much to see the Establishment Democrats I read about in this article humbled by a Sanders Campaign that raises so many millions for the cause that they will be left shaking their heads in disbelief.
Of course, if we give Bernie enough money, he will indeed win the most delegates on Super Tuesday; but the key to Bernie winning over the establishment leaders of the Dem Party come Convention time will not be his ability to win a plurality of the available delegates; it will be his ability to blow their minds re: how much money his supporters have given him to push forward their political revolution.
If there is one thing the establishment Dems respect, it’s money.
If Bernie shows up at the table with substantially more money than Hillary can come up with, don’t you think it will get their attention, and start to break down some of that attitude they’ve been carrying around for months as outspoken Clinton supporters?
I think you see my point.
With an income tax refund check forthcoming, I think it’s time to spend a good bit of that ‘extra’ money on something I value very, very much….

Shelley99 in the comments below suggested I put a link in the diary for those who might feel inspired to make a contribution without hesitation, so I found this link in
LieparDestin’s BNR diary to an ActBlue contribution form. I hope it helps…

I wanted to mention another diary I’ve written that I thought I’d recommend with a link:
The Socialist Alternative To Glass-Steagall That Bernie Has NOT Proposed...But Probably Should…
I think it will be very helpful to those who are trying to explain the advantages of Democratic Socialism to the many who know nothing about it...
