Okay, the suspense in this race is over, Clinton will win. If you don't believe that now, don't read any further. But bookmark this and come back when you do.
The Sanders campaign will keep going. That's their right. Heck, it's what Hillary Clinton did in 2008. And if your state hasn't primaried yet, by all means vote for your candidate.
But... hang onto your wallet and credit cards. And set that checkbook aside.
Sanders has not lost because of lack of funds. Heck, he outspent Hillary nearly two-to-one in New York. And he's already got a pretty good war chest. The problem is, as more money rolls in, his campaign will use it to attack the presumptive Democratic nominee. It's what they do. Millions in TV ads running down the woman we'll be trying to elect as the next President in just a few months.
And who will this effort help? Well, it will keep the ad agencies working for a few more months. And the fundraisers. (Neither of these groups of paid gunslingers cares much who wins or loses!) But it won't help the Sanders campaign – that ship has sailed. Still, you can count on receiving emails and calls seeking more money... and being deceived by Sanders campaign statements suggesting that there's still a chance – with the help of your donation, of course – for your candidate to win.
But there is not.
The Sanders campaign has plenty of funds in hand to pay their bills, keep the buses rolling and stage more rallies. And that's fine. But soliciting funds from Dem donors under false pretenses and using it to tear down the woman who will be the Democratic Party's nominee seems counter productive.
Don't you agree?
