Proving once again why Ted Cruz is absolutely, utterly unfit to serve as President, he recently weighed in on the controversy surrounding the firing of ESPN Baseball analyst Curt Schilling.
In case you haven’t heard, Schilling was rightly fired by ESPN for posting a horribly transphobic meme featuring an overweight obviously male crossdresser with exposed breasts in a transparent attempt to strike fear into the hearts of his followers. Just as a reminder, this is exactly what the Nazis did when they created their anti-Jew pogroms, and Schilling is obviously taking queues from the same playbook, aptly titled Fearmongering 101.
Well, clearly Ted Cruz also has this book on his nightstand as he had this to say about the controversy (from talkingpointsmemo.com/...):
“ESPN fired Curt Schilling for making the rather obvious point that we shouldn’t allow grown male adult strangers alone in a bathroom with little girls," the Texas senator said in a Thursday interview on Glenn Beck’s radio show. "That’s a point anyone who is rational should understand.”
Like Schilling, Cruz sees opposition to this meme and to so-called “bathroom bills” as a result of unchecked “political correctness.”
Yikes. So much to unpack on those seemingly innocuous statements.
Clearly Ayatollah Cruz sees himself as the defender of non-politically correct bathrooms, the kind trans women must share with straight men and bearded trans guys must share with straight women. Clearly he must have direct knowledge of all the “rather obvious” attacks that have happened at the hands of trans women everywhere. There must be, what, hundreds, thousands of instances of bathroom rapes going on for this to be such a huge problem that state legislatures are passing laws banning trans people, right? There must be an absolute epidemic that is causing all the social panic and pearl clutching coming from the right wing, right?
So how many straight people have been attacked by trans people anyways, for this to be such a problem deserving so much attention?
Zero.
That’s right, the number is exactly zero. Zilch. Nada. Bupkis.
But, oh, those defenders of all our RIGHTS and FREEDOMS are all up in arms because trans people are DARING to use the bathrooms of their chosen gender, rather than what’s on their birth certificate. After all, a man is a man and a woman is a woman, right?
I guess that’s what the world looks like when you subscribe to the black and white worldview that Conservatives subscribe to. No shades of grey, no nuances between two opposite poles that exist as a binary. You’re either male or you’re female, forever and always, and nothing you can do will ever change that reality. Oh and if you’re intersexed, you’re shit out of luck because you don’t exist, according to right wing logic.
Of course, after Theocrat Cruz spewed his transphobic, totally ignorant viewpoint, Glenn Beck had this to say:
Beck enthusiastically agreed, saying that if the “bathroom bills” can “save one little girl from being molested by a heterosexual pervert, we should do it."
If we can save one little girl from being molested by a heterosexual pervert, we should do it, according to Beck. Well then Glenn, I would suggest you don’t send your little girls to church, where they are FAR more likely to be molested than by a trans person in a bathroom, you moron.
