Am I the only one to wonder why the constant references to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton always seem to be “Hillary” and not “Mrs. Clinton” or “Secretary Clinton” when her GOP opponent is referred as “Trump” or “Donald Trump” much more often than the silly label “The Donald”?
Sorry, but I see this as a form of conscious or unconscious sexist attitudes. Whether you like her or not, Secretary Clinton’s public service record is much more extensive and deserves at least more respect than Mr. Trump’s, which is nonexistent unless you consider beauty pageants and reality shows as “public service.”
Even without that, there’s no excuse for referring to Mrs. Clinton consistently as “Hillary” when Mr. Trump is called “Trump.” Reporters need to pay a little more attention to what they’re doing. Will this continue should she win the election? I doubt it. Why should it go on now?
