Donald Trump may be losing his remaining neurons as we watch. Once again, he's gone on a tirade against an (invisible?) fire marshal who's not letting him pack one of his rallies with as many of his supporters as can be forcibly wedged in the doors.
He just called an actual press conference about this—and only this. Not kidding. The transcript and more, below:
"Just want to tell you—we've had thousands of people outside, thousands. They were turned away by—for political reasons—purely for political reasons. They said in this massive building you're not allowed to have any more than a thousand people. And that's nonsense. We could've had 4,5,6 thousand people. They've all been turned away. [INAUDIBLE] It's a disgrace.
So that's for political reasons, they were turned away. And that's too bad. So we have a thousand people in there, they won't allow any more. The fire marshal said he's not allowed to allow any more even though the building holds many thousands of people so I just want to tell you that. That's politics at its lowest—you oughta check it out. But it's really politics at it's lowest."
This is after lashing out at a Colorado fire marshal for similar supposed plots against him, so this is apparently going to be his next campaign theme.
(Remember too: Trump spent 30 minutes stuck in an elevator before his Colorado rally and had to be rescued by firefighters so he could go on to accuse their fire marshal of incompetence and/or political machinations. What are the odds he and his team ignored the elevator's maximum occupancy signs and jammed the thing themselves, I wonder.)
