Among the rules of this site is this one:
Disclose paid campaign or organizational positions (or unpaid positions of authority) when it is relevant to the conversation. Such identification should appear in each diary posted by the paid individual and on the individual’s profile page. Persons in such positions who are caught posting on the site without identifying their role will be banned and, in an exception to the no-outing rule, we will expose their real names publicly.
We take this one seriously, and we have, in the past, publicly exposed campaigns violating this rule. Unfortunately, we have another one to add to that pile: the Ro Khanna campaign.
1. The Khanna campaign is run by Brian Parvizshahi. He created this bayareadubs account to respond to this diary from Glen the Plumber, and failed to disclose his campaign position.
2. A second account, demdemdem08, is also tied to the Khanna campaign, again used without identifying the author as affiliated with the campaign. In fact, there is strong evidence that this account was also created by Parvizshahi. At the very least, that account was created and used from either Parvizshahi’s home or campaign headquarters.
I put this out here as a public service. We don’t allow public accusation of shills without evidence, but if you deliver a request to Help Desk with evidence, we will investigate. And if the accusation is true, we will out the offending campaign or organization.
Finally, this is all so freakin’ stupid. There’s no reason that Parvizshahi couldn’t have responded the way he did admitting his real identity. Honesty is not a liability, and in a political debate, it’s always the best choice. Showing passion for a candidate, so much so that you volunteer or work for him or her, is not a bad thing! It gives you more credibility than pretending you’re just some random voter.
