Joss Whedon fans don’t have to wait for his next project—because it’s here, and it’s as celebrity-packed as an Avengers movie. But you’ll be watching it on Facebook and YouTube, not at the movie theater, and it’s a real-life scenario this time. It does center on a major villain, though: Donald Trump. Yes, Whedon has made an election video, including Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo (more on that in a minute), Scarlett Johansson, Neil Patrick Harris, Jesse Williams, Julianne Moore, Nathan Fillion, Don Cheadle, and President Jed Bartlet himself.
In short, as the video puts it: “Lots of famous people. Lots of famous people. Lots and lots of famous people. A shit ton of famous people. Repeating how important it is.” Although “Sometimes a not-famous person will be mixed in with a famous one, to drive the message home. Because of their unpolished sincerity.” The message, of course, is to register and vote this November.
Whedon has founded the Super PAC Save the Day and put $1 million toward helping elect Hillary Clinton. As many as 25 videos are planned. But this first one may have the most important message: Register, vote, and defeat Donald Trump … so that Mark Ruffalo will do a nude scene in his next movie.
