Several right-wing media outlets, including the always high-profile and low-class Rush Limbaugh, Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller, Breitbart News and others had a problem. How could they defend Donald Trump from the new controversy surrounding how he treated Alicia Machado, Miss Universe 1996, calling her “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping”? How could they respond to the archived news footage of Trump dragging a media throng to watch Machado work out and lose weight back during her reign? How could they possibly find a way to throw cold water on the news coverage reporting how Trump went on Fox and Friends the day after 85 million people or more learned of this misogynistic spectacle, and Trump actually doubled down by again saying she put on some weight?
The answer… They’d start dragging what’s known about Machado’s sexual history into the fore. But instead of just going with some mildly salacious facts to slut-shame to justify Donald’s fat-shaming (“Not only did she get fat, she’s a whore, too!”)… They now are flat out lying, and claiming that Machado is a “porn star”:
RUSH LIMBAUGH (HOST): “Who would have believed that, whether or not, a former Miss Universe became a Miss Piggy and a porn star would become such a big deal in the campaign. But it has. It’s the biggest stack [of papers] I got. I’ve got stacks of stuff here and the porn star Miss Piggy, former -- who’s now campaigning with Hillary. A former porn star is campaigning for Hillary against Trump.”
This is a great way to defend Donald Trump from appearing like he’s a misogynist, right? If all his backers start attacking a woman for sexual improprieties? Especially when they’re not even true?
This story started to go viral fast enough that Snopes.com actually made an Alicia Machado page and point out the “Alicia Machado” in the purported film is actually another woman, altogether.
So, the question becomes… why did they have to fabricate Alicia Machado being a “porn star” and in a pornagraphic film? She posed topless for the Mexican version of Playboy. Wouldn’t that have been enough?
Oh, right. Prospective First Lady Melania Trump also posed nude in several magazine spreads. So it would be bad to accuse someone of doing that of being a “porn star”, since that would mean Melania would be one, too. So exaggerate, lie, whatever it takes to discredit Alicia Machado and make Trump’s fat-shaming go away.
These people… they aren’t just repulsive. They really are deplorable.
