Remember how fun it was to beat up on gay and transgender Americans back in 2007? Ya know, when they were really down and out—when they were still being kicked out of the military and denied marital rights and voters in some 25 states had approved marriage bans. Wow, those were the days! When you could really sock it to LGBT folks and get a good laugh because they were so politically weak and reviled by the masses.
And no one knows how to capitalize on a moment like that better than Donald Trump. So during a 2007 speech in the midst of calling comedian Rosie O'Donnell a "slob" (because he wasn't allowed to call her "fat," he joked) and "degenerate," Trump also managed to work in the perfect slight about Rosie not being a real woman—ya know, ‘cuz she's a lesbian. Andrew Kaczynski writes:
Trump was speaking at a Learning Annex event in Toronto in early 2007 when he made the comments.
Listing off people O’Donnell had publicly attacked, Trump said, “Then he attacked Kelly Ripa. And he attacked, she attacked — I guess I could say ‘he.’ It’s so natural. No, it’s so natural.”
Oh, man, that's a knee slapper, Donnie! The crowd ate it up (BuzzFeed has the vid)! Everyone knows that dykes aren't real women, right? And no one knows better than The Donald how to tell the real women from the imposters. Let's face it, Donnie's cornered the market on defining what makes women, real women. Why? Because he's a real man and that's what makes him qualified to be the supreme judge of womankind.
