Game. On.
In the wee hours of Friday morning, under cover of darkness, the Senate confirmed ethically tainted Georgia Rep. Tom Price on a strict party-line vote to serve as Donald Trump’s secretary of Health and Human Services, aka Obamacare wrecker-in-chief. Shortly thereafter, Gov. Nathan Deal set the dates for the special election to replace Price. A primary will be held on April 18, and in the likely event that no candidate clears 50 percent of the vote, a runoff between the top two vote-getters will take place on June 20.
And this is a winnable seat: Trump carried the suburban Atlanta 6th District by just a 48-47 margin, a huge drop from Mitt Romney’s 61-38 win there four years earlier. Daily Kos is supporting investigative filmmaker Jon Ossoff, a former staffer for Reps. John Lewis and Hank Johnson, and this community’s outpouring of support has set new records. In fact, in just one week, we raised more money for Ossoff than we did over an entire cycle for the previous record-holder—one Elizabeth Warren.
But now it’s time to really step on the gas. All candidates from all parties will run on a single ballot in the primary, which means that it’s possible two Republicans could advance to the second round. We cannot let that happen. We have to make sure Ossoff has the resources he needs to make it to the runoff.
And then, if he does, we’ll have an amazing chance to stun the living daylights out of the GOP and deliver the harshest possible rebuke to Trump. We know he hates nothing more than losing. Let’s make a loser out of him, and bad.
Give $4 to Jon Ossoff today so that he can kick some serious Trump ass and pick up a seat for Team Blue!
