Did Attorney General Jeff Sessions lie to the Senate Judiciary Committee about his meetings with the Russian ambassador, or was he merely unclear? Sen. Al Franken may have bent over backwards to avoid using the word lie, but the Quinnipiac University poll finds that voters are willing to go there:
American voters say 52 - 40 percent that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath during his confirmation hearings and say 51 - 42 percent that he should resign, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.
This news follows a CNN/ORC poll in which a majority of respondents said there should be a special prosecutor on Donald Trump’s ties to Russia. Congressional Republicans deciding how far they’re going to go to cover for Trump and his inner circle should be sitting up and taking notice about now. They probably aren’t, but they should be.
