Kossack Fineena has been hit with a load of stuff but depression and anxiety kept her from reaching out sooner. A stalwart of the Community Fundraisers community since 2008, she has been much more accustomed to giving and helping others but now she and her beloved dogs have to move unexpectedly and she really needs our help. And a wonderful anonymous donor will match that help up to $1,000.
Here are some of the major issues with fundraising goals by issue and in total:
Primary issue — housing. Her landlord is selling the current house. (Neighborhood is being turned into mini-mansions so not just getting a new landlord. The house is being torn down.) Rents in Charlotte are horrendous. Comparatively speaking she was lucky to find a house in for only $125 a month more than her current place. The new house owner bought it recently as an investment for his daughters' college fund and is looking for a long-term tenant (2-year lease) so longer-term security for Fineena. She borrowed (will need to pay back) deposit/1st month’s rent and has signed the lease. She needs about $450 to move the utilities.
The backyard fenced needs repair before she can let the dogs out. She needs a storm door to the backyard. She thinks she has the labor but must buy the materials so about $1,000 there.
She needs a mattress — currently sleeping on a couch which isn’t good for any of her health conditions — estimating $600 here.
Due to her COPD and heart conditions, she physically cannot move herself so she’ll have to have help. Blessings upon eeff for offering to help with his truck but we still need more moving labor. Charlotte, NC area Kossacks who can help on Saturday, May 27, please speak up. You can contact Fineena via Kosmail.
So total move estimate is $2,500. Of course, more is always welcome. As anyone who has ever moved knows, there are always a million little unplanned things needed.
Fineena’s current income is Social Security — it’s not a lot since she had to take early retirement. She’s been so depressed and stressed lately that it’s “zapped all my creativity & that's what supported me for many years & what I'm hoping will make up the difference between my Social Security & paying my bills”.
She has a foundation. We’re hoping once she’s settled in the new place with a safe space for the dogs and a decent mattress to help her sleep, she’ll be able to create her beautiful scarves and things — and get her Willie Ru Etsy shop open again.
So the total — $2,500 goal — for moving, transferring utilities, mattress, storm door and fence repair. A wonderful anonymous donor is offering a $1,000 match — so a $10 donation is worth $20 to Fineena!!!
Target move date is Saturday May 27th.
Because gofundme sites take such a big fee, we’re doing this via PayPal — palskaren at aol dot com — any and all help will be very appreciated. And very much Kossack communty.
