The Obamacare repeal kick-off, featuring a vote-a-rama of amendments continues, as does the Republican determination to shoot themselves in the foot. They have defeated an amendment from Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) that would protect people with pre-existing conditions, far and away the most popular and necessary part of Obamacare.
They also apparently decided to bow to popular vote loser Donald Trump and his embattled nominee for Health and Human Services, Tom Price. The Republican senators who were going to make a big stand and offer an amendment to buy themselves another few months to repeal the law caved, and withdrew their amendment. Which was probably kind of dumb.
Oh, and by the way, their idea to pressure Democrats in tough races in 2018 to help them? It isn't working. Here's Sen. John Tester (D-MT), making it very clear where he stands.
