People see the Republo-Fascist cabinet that President-Elect Trump is assembling and say he's the next Hitler. But they're only half right; they're giving him too much credit. Trump is more of a #Twitler. While he revels in evoking an iron hand to crush every critic through insipid tweets, Trump has no nationalistic fervor. It's all narcissism without any drive to make the country stronger.
And that's all he's got. He knows deep down that he doesn't have the intellect or diligence to pull off any kind of focused vision. He's happy to let the CORPservatives leading the Republican Party choose the cabinet that best suits their Prime Directive: "Move All the Money To Us!"
Hitler had to control every facet of his campaign through Europe. Trump is happy as a figurehead as long as he has the power to lash out effectively. And on Friday we'll see just what lengths to which he'll go. Between destroying net neutrality and controlling the audit power of the IRS, he wields some mighty weapons.
Yet his ego can't help but damage relations with his former allies, the media. Trump has enjoyed the maximum benefit of a media that gave him billions in free exposure. Despite that, he can't help but bite the hand that feeds his brand as seen by his spats with CNN and today NBC.
Lucky for us, he doesn't have the IQ to go full-on Hitler. And he doesn't have the restraint to maintain any momentum from his election. He just slides daily in the polls and my guess is he'll go off script in his inauguration speech and show the entire world just how much a buffoon he really is.
One by one, tens of millions of his supporters will reach the tipping point. And a lyric from the Talking Heads song "Once in a Lifetime" will echo through their minds: "My God, what have I done?"
