Greetings and welcome to a slightly belated open thread on a cool and drizzly evening in Prague. A couple of photos, fresh from my prowlings to follow and perhaps a bit of my usual blather.
Well, maybe you’d like a chance to write something yourselves? I’ll publish now and keep writing the diary for a bit...
And here I am, under a barely visible gray horizontal line. Sheesh, hardly worth clicking the button. I thought, zow! insert a line and we’ll be taking this diary up a notch, the graphics are gonna be graphic, baby.
Oh well.
Sorry I’m late folks, had dinner with an old friend and y'know, get ol' Marko gabbing and he just doesn't know when to shut up.
The cobbles were slick tonight. My shoes don’t seem to have any traction at all, but is it too early to get out my cozy winter boots?
So I slid around the streets of the “Small Side” of town tonight.
It was nice to get together with my friend and finally sit down and chat. Our lives have been diverging lately and I think that this week in particular we both deserved a beer.
Thanksgiving was a grand success. There were 20 of us here to break bread together. My Czech family has thoroughly embraced this American holiday. There were two innovations in our bounteous spread this year with me making my first green bean casserole (inspired by the recipe found on our own Michele’s website) and adding a layer of dark chocolate to one of the pumpkin pies. Both additions to the menu proved very popular.
Too much cooking, not enough drawing. Nothing of my artistic efforts to show this week. Monday’s life-drawing class we had a new model, a man who stood quite still for the entire pose— too still, and I’d say “stiff”, but that might be misconstrued. I tried my watercolors and was pretty happy with the results although the basic drawing had some fatal flaws in proportion.
The ol’ webcomic page for the week might get uploaded by sometime on Sunday. I just couldn’t seem to find the time to sit down and draw.
I had all my usual English tutoring and then #2 Son’s class had parent/teacher conferences, got a letter from my oldest friend back in the states that required a lengthy reply, couple days of cooking and time with the family and pfoomph! another week gone.
After finally sitting down to draw for a few hours today I was almost sorry to have to leave to meet my friend at his apartment downtown. Helped him to clean out some of the muck on his computer and then we went out to a late dinner. Good to catch up a bit. We used to get together every week. And it was over far too soon, but we both had more to do this evening. He’s already doing his Christmas cards. I still haven’t decided what I’m drawing for my card this year. So much to do...
But now, I sit at our table. The loudest noise is the tick of the wall clock in the kitchen, then the clack of my fingers on these plastic keys, the hum of the refrigerator.
A moment to reflect and speculate.
I’m thinking there might be some leftover pie in that fridge.
Thanks for stopping by.
