#Favorite Music Monday
There are many themes I thought about using today (#VoteDougJones, for instance), but I posted two stories already today and I just don’t have much “creative” energy left. So here are some of my favorite songs.
Enjoy or post some of YOUR favorite tunes in the comments. Warning: If you only list the title I will go to YouTube and find a video of the song and reply to your comment with it!
First up, the first song I taught my now 13 year old granddaughter to sing with me in the car, First Cut is the Deepest. The artist formerly known as Cat Stevens wrote and performed this tune in 1967 (the year my youngest sibling was born), and Rod Stewart covered it in 1973, but it’s the 2003 version by (raised on Country and rose to fame on Rock n Roll) Sheryl Crow which I love best. Here are all 3 versions:
Cat Stevens (from 2015, not the original, which you can hear right here from a 1967 live performance):
Rod Stewart:
Sheryl Crow:
Next is the ultimate version of Hallelujah, insofar as I’m concerned, by the Diva k d lang. Look closely, she’s in a velvet or silk long coat and is barefoot on stage with an orchestra! If I were religious in any way at all, I’m certain that THIS is what an angel would sound like singing…
But this five member group, Pentatonix, comes in a close 2nd, with their lovely and haunting harmonies and a capella performance
Finally, an oldie but a goodie.
First, by Elvis Presley:
and the cover by Andrea Bocelli , because he’s got one of the world’s best tenor voices:
So tell me, what are some of your favorite tunes?
I’m skipping WHAT I DID this weekend, because it was boring, boring, boring. But maybe your’s wasn’t?
How was your weekend?
