Playing a little catch up here. Received this e-mail yesterday from U.S. Senator Chris Murphy’s (D. CT) re-election campaign:
During the last campaign, the gun lobby spent tens of millions of dollars to elect a president and a Congress who would do their bidding.
Today, they got what they wanted.
Just a short while ago, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would let almost anyone carry a loaded, concealed firearm just about anywhere in the United States of America.
NRA Leader Wayne LaPierre may have called on Congress to pass this bill “as quickly as it can be written and signed” by the President, but there’s still something stand in their way — and that is the reality that I will do everything I possibly can to make sure this legislation never gets through the Senate and onto President Trump’s desk.
But I cannot do it alone:
Sign my petition calling on the United States Senate to vote NO on legislation that would let almost anyone get a permit to carry loaded, concealed guns almost anywhere in the country.
This is a dangerous bill. Law enforcement opposes it. The vast majority of the American people oppose it. Thanks for sending a message that you do, as well.
Every best wish,
Chris Murphy
U.S. Senator, Connecticut
