Former DNC Chair Howard Dean has endorsed South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg for DNC Chair.
The voting members of the DNC will meet in Atlanta starting tomorrow and between tomorrow and Sunday elect a new DNC chair. This is only the second seriously contested DNC chair race over the last 25 years. The last contested race, was won by Howard Dean in 2005.
There are 447 votes up for grabs this weekend. A candidate needs a simple majority of 224 votes to become the next DNC chair. The other candidates are Keith Ellison (Congress-MN), Tom Perez (former Labor Secretary), Sally Boynton Brown (Idaho Democratic Chair), Jaime Harrison (South Carolina Democratic Chair), Jehmu Greene (Fox News personality and strategist), Pete Peckarsky (attorney from WI), Samuel Ronan (activist), and Robert Brannum (NAACP Veteran’s Committee Chair). Raymond Buckley, the chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, dropped out last week and endorsed Ellison.
