Appearing on CNN with Alisyn Camerota, Wisconsin Representative Sean Patrick Duffy was there to defend Trump’s Muslim ban and super ready to explain that when white people shoot people it’s completely different. Duffy started off complaining that there was only one example of white terrorism.
Sean Duffy: You give me one example, and I think that was in Canada.
Then Duffy was provided the example of Oklahoma City. And …
Duffy: So … you’ve given me two examples, and in recent times one example.
And reminded about Charleston.
Duffy: And look at the good things that came from it. Nikki Haley took down the Confederate flag. That was great!
No one can dispute that the Charleston shooting brought on Good Things. Well, maybe nine people.
And … that’s about the point where Duffy leaves off just providing a biased, slanted, racist perspective, and takes flight into full bore CrazyPants.
Duffy: Just look at Gabby Giffords. The Marxist. The Marxist who took her life. A leftist guy. And now you see violence and terror in the streets all across America. Burning and beating people with Donald Trump hats.
Gabby Giffords was shot by a Marxist and Trump supporters are being burned in the streets of America. It’s American carnage!
For the record, moderate Democratic Representative Gabby Giffords was one of 19 people shot by Jared Lee Loughner. Loughner’s primary reason for going after Giffords was a stated belief that “women shouldn’t hold positions of power.” He was also a believer in many right-wing conspiracy theories concerning the New World Order and thought 9/11 was an inside job. Just about the only thing Loughner didn’t believe? Marxism.
Still, swinging Loughner’s political arrow around 180 degrees is moderately less crazy than Duffy’s streets filled with flaming Trump supporters.
Duffy: … The left has to say violence is wrong! And if love and peace, from as you brought up, from San Bernadino. Why don’t we look at Berkley? Berkley, where people get beat up for wearing a Donald Trump hat. A make America great again hat. And … and get kicked. And stores get vandalized. And they burn. And they beat. Where does the left, and CNN and MSNBC stand on … you know what? This is wrong.
Yes, Alisyn. The left! The left! Why aren’t we talking about the carnage?
Duffy was then reminded of recent incidents of swastikas being painted on buildings, but before Camerota could complete a sentence, Duffy was laughing it off.
Duffy: Alisyn, come on!
Alisyn: Why do you think that, when it’s a white terrorist, it’s an isolated incident?
Duffy: What I’m saying is … you have a cell. A heart. A beat. Of ISIS that’s inspiring people around the world. And … do you deny that? That’s going to Europe and coming to America, whether it’s lone wolf. So, what’s the heart beat of the attack that you referenced in the mosque. Or the attack that you reference in Charleston? Is there a common theme?
Alisyn: Extremism. Hatred.
Duffy: Okay, so can we vet that? How can we vet that?
Duffy’s point, assuming he has a point, seems to be that every Muslim in the world gets his or her orders directly from ISIS central. Meanwhile, every white extremist is his own special snowflake.
However, there is an answer to that “what’s the beat” question Duffy asked back there. They learned if from you, all right? They learned it from watching you. From you and from others like you who can’t see any association between the shootings, bombings, and assaults that have come out of the right for decades. That beat? Plenty of other people can hear it. Plenty of people have felt it.
However, burning Trump supporters and hat attacks all across America does seem to be a badly under-reported story. Let’s see your evidence for that, Congressman Duffy.
One last note on Jared Loughner. His biggest problem seems to have been a genuine mental illness. Like the kind that could make you blind to 164 out of the 166 mass shootings that happened in America last year.
