Received this e-mail today from State Senator Todd Prichard’s (D. IA) gubernatorial campaign:
Planned Parenthood is being forced to close four clinics in Burlington, Keokuk, Sioux City, and Bettendorf -- and I'm furious.
But anger won't provide care to all the patients losing their doctors.
I just chipped in to ensure Planned Parenthood of the Heartland can keep providing vital medical care to as many Iowans as possible, and I'm hoping you’ll do the same.
Will you chip in an urgent donation of $5 to Planned Parenthood of the Heartland so they can continue providing care to Iowans?
Governor Branstad, Lieutenant Governor Reynolds and Republican leaders knew this would happen when they defunded Planned Parenthood. It was their plan all along.
Now almost 15,000 patients -- half with incomes under the poverty line -- will be forced to change doctors, go without treatment, or travel over an hour if they want to continue receiving free or low-cost care from Planned Parenthood in Iowa.
We need to fight back. And we need to show anti-woman politicians that we're not backing down.
But more than that, we need to ensure that Planned Parenthood has the resources to continue providing care to Iowans.
Will join me and chip in $5 or whatever you can afford to Planned Parenthood of the Heartland today?
I've stood with Planned Parenthood and Iowa women in the House, I'm standing with them today, and with your help, I'll stand with them as governor.
Thank you for standing with me,
Todd Prichard
