Received this e-mail today from former Rep. Gwen Graham’s (D. FL) gubernatorial campaign:
Every day, countless patients battling cancer and other debilitating diseases look for ways to manage their pain. The Florida legislature could have helped them -- but instead of enacting Amendment Two and legalizing medical marijuana, politicians ignored the will of 71% of Florida voters.
Having seen my husband deal with the effects of chemotherapy, I want Floridians to have the option of using medical marijuana to treat the effects of painful illnesses. Medical marijuana has proven to be effective in cases where either treatments don’t exist or where traditional treatments are not effective.
I’m calling on Florida’s legislature to convene a special session to enact Amendment Two and give relief to chronic pain sufferers. It’s time for them to join 92% of medical marijuana patients and 8 in 10 doctors in endorsing medical marijuana’s use in the state of Florida. Sign our petition and call for the legislature to hold a special session on medical marijuana.
For too long, the legislature has ignored Florida voters -- from the lottery, which Floridians approved because of a promised increase in education funding that never came, to Forever Florida, which was supposed to be used for land conservation but had its funding diverted to other projects, legislators have played shell games with the wishes of Florida’s voters. Don’t let medical marijuana be next.
Add your name and stand with us to make legalized medical marijuana a reality in Florida.
Thanks for standing with us on such an important issue.
