Little kids have been known to stuff their fingers in their ears and shout “la la la I can’t hear you” when someone tries to tell them something they don’t want to hear. Today’s Republicans are replacing “la la la I can’t hear you” with “fake news fake news fake news.”
Witness Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn. When Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff tweeted about Trumpcare's CBO score, Cornyn knew what he had to do:
Schiff’s tweet was information directly from the CBO: “Trumpcare by the numbers: 850% premium spike for elderly, 14 mil lose healthcare in 1st year, 1 in 6 w pre-existing conditions lose coverage.” All you have to do to fact-check that one is check what the Congressional Budget Office said—because that’s how Schiff put together his tweet. So to Cornyn, Trumpcare’s CBO score is apparently “fake news.”
Either that, or “la la la you just said something inconvenient so I can’t hear you, you big meanie.”
