I listened to Trump this afternoon saying what he really felt about Charlottesville. He feels that white supremacists in this country are not being treated fairly. They feel the media is not telling their story and that they too are victims. He feels there are people on the left who also came and offered violence. A commentator on CNN said Trump is out of touch with the rest of the country. I disagree. There are a lot of people in the country who feel just like Donald Trump. They are not in the majority but there are a lot of them and they played a key role in him getting elected. But this is not news!! Trump has revealed who he was all along. He also continues to reveal a part of America that we may wish is in the past but it is not. We can tear down monuments but that doesn't make the feelings go away. If Mandela, Martin Luther King, Caesar Chavez, Malcom X, Desmond Tutu and even Barack Obama did not find ways to confront, dialogue, listen and challenge divisiveness, hatred and bigotry, we would not have made any progress. The President is speaking truth for many who feel their truth is no longer being heard. I may totally disagree with him but I do not feel he has totally lost touch with the American people. He is right in sync with many. It is hard but real. Now what are we going to do to move forward?
