Here’s my letter to Ms. Morrison, CEO of Campbell Soup, who says she's not going to resign from board.
Dear Ms. Morrison:
I urge you to resign, immediately, from the board of advisors of Donald Trump, following his repeated and overt support of Nazis and white supremacists.
I grew up in an America that defeated the Nazis in World War II. My father is buried among millions of other veterans of that war in a cemetery a few miles away. He and my mother fed us Campbell’s soup growing up, but I know that if he were still alive to hear Trump’s words, and your craven acceptance of them, he would never buy another can of soup from your company.
And I grew up in an America where Medgar Evers, the husband of my college classmate, was shot in the back, in front of his three small children, by white supremacists. We continue to fight against those vile racists, in the hope that we will one day defeat them as thoroughly as we did the Nazis.
My dad died just a few months ago at 101 years old. He despised Nazis and he despised racists, all his life.
He can’t be here to speak for himself and his fellow vets, but I know he would join me in saying:
BOYCOTT CAMPBELL SOUP!
I will share this message far and wide, until you get the backbone to resign from that board and have no further dealings with Trump or his minions. You might want to bear in mind that there are a lot more people who abhor Nazis than there are Trumps who admire them.
