While his racist and religious supporters fawn over every speech Donald Trump delivers, the rest of the country is generally embarrassed that there is a bellicose moron in the White House. Instead of being humiliated, the rest of the world shudders that a self-aggrandizing two-bit con man is actually speaking on behalf of America; legally no less. Trump gave Americans another reason to hang their heads in shame when he went before the “preeminent venue for international diplomacy” and promptly humiliated himself in front of the United Nations General Assembly and again demonstrated to the world why he is a legitimate threat to peace and stability.
By all measures Trump’s United Nations speech was as much a failure as it was stunning in its pack of lies, self-promotion, terrifying war-mongering, and blatant plagiarism. It is little wonder the speech’s criticism didn't send tiny hands to ensconce himself in a West Wing toilet drowning in his own tears. Trump needs constant praise as a matter of course, megalomaniac bloviates typically do. So the harsh condemnation for a speech that sounded like any one of Trump’s racist campaign rallies incited him to do what he always does - lash out at the Clintons and Barack Obama. It is noteworthy that neither the Clintons nor President Obama wrote or delivered Trump’s United Nations speech; it was all down to dirty Don.
By now any interested party has seen the images of world leaders, and White House chief of staff John Kelly, sitting dumbfounded and “in stunned horror” while Trump parroted parts of a Vladimir Putin speech from 2015, boasted about his election, falsely claimed credit for President Barack Obama’s economic successes, and threatened to destroy North Korea in what he believes is a long-overdue thermonuclear war.
Trump obviously could not care less about what the rest of the world thinks of him or his “big time wrestling” braggadocio, but he did take umbrage that in his own country he received crap reviews that were probably sugar-coated to appear reasonable and suitable for delivery to the public. For example, journalists rightly labeled Trump’s speech as both “menacing” and a “needlessly offensive” campaign speech; an assessment shared by many of this authors colleagues from around the world.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton understated that Trump’s speech was “dark and dangerous” and certainly “not the kind of message that the leader of the greatest nation in the world should be delivering.” And, President Obama’s former press secretary Josh Earnest criticized Trump for delivering a speech to the world’s leaders that had “no coherent strategy.”
Of course every bit of the criticism was warranted and truthful, but this is Trump. Like every spoiled 8 year old brat, he lashed out and blamed the criticism on his predecessors who contributed nothing whatsoever to his speech, and by all accounts they were not among the assembled world leaders.
Typical of a punk-ass crybaby, Trump ran to his favorite media outlet, Twitter, to blame his warmongering speech on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton who Trump claimed is solely responsible for North Korea’s nuclear weapons. He “tweeted:”
“After allowing North Korea to research and build Nukes while Secretary of State (Bill C also), Crooked Hillary now criticizes.”
Of course Trump’s “tweet” was a dirty lie. It is true that former President Bill Clinton was not ultimately successful in his administration’s attempt at thawing relations with North Korea, but the communist nation’s first nuclear weapon test was conducted during the George W. Bush administration. Neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton were running the country when Bush was president. In fact, Bush likely provoked North Korea to seek nuclear weapons after he labeled them a member of the “Axis of Evil” just prior to invading two sovereign nations.
Never willing to miss an opportunity to blame all of his woes on President Barack Obama, Trump found, and “retweeted," one of his supporter’s assertions that it was President Obama and Hillary Clinton that gave North Korea its nuclear arsenal. Trump was happy to spread an easily debunked claim despite the fact that most people understand that North Korea already had nuclear weapons before either President Obama or Hillary Clinton were in office. However, that inconvenient truth didn’t stop Trump from “retweeting” the claim that:
“It is the height of hypocrisy. Obama and Clinton in effect gave nuclear weapons to North Korea by their policy of appeasement.”
This nonsense about appeasement fails to acknowledge that President Obama spent all eight years of his tenure “choking North Korea” half-to-death with crippling economic and trade sanctions. It is also noteworthy that all three previous presidents did threaten North Korea with “defensive actions,” but they were threats of defensive action against North Korea’s threats of aggression. Not one of them, not even George W. Bush, ever threatened to “totally destroy” the communist nation. Remember, America nearly “totally destroyed” the country, including killing off 20 percent of its population, by “targeting anything that moved” during the 1950s Korean War.
Perhaps if the American people were remotely aware that their nation destroyed more cities in North Korea than all the bombing and destruction America did to both Japan and Germany during World War II, they might understand why there is North Korean animus towards the United States and why they believe they need nuclear weapons for “defensive action.”
No matter what happened in the past, the miserable and dangerous speech Trump delivered to the United Nations is down to Donald Trump; not Bill or Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. Trump will never stop blaming anyone else for his incompetence, or abandon giving recklessly belligerent speeches because he is a desperate attention-seeking whore. If Trump learned anything, and he certainly didn’t learn anything, it should be that delivering nasty speeches to the world’s leaders will always incur harsh criticism. He should also have a clue that people really don’t like him and that animus has nothing whatsoever to do with Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
