Sen. Kamala Harris once again showed off her prosecutorial skills while grilling FBI director Christopher Wray about the so-called ‘investigation’ into Brett Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual assault of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. After GOP Sen. Jeff Flake made a neat-sounding speech (before his predicted party-line vote), he called for a week-long delay while the FBI investigated the allegations brought forth by Dr. Ford. At the time, NBC News reported Donald Trump had ordered a “limited” investigation. Trump quickly and loudly refuted that news.
So the sham investigation went forward and the FBI didn’t interview nearly two dozen former classmates of Ford, Kavanaugh, second accuser Deborah Ramirez, and Kavanaugh's friend Mark Judge, witnesses who said they had corroborating information. Sen. Kamala Harris and millions of women (and ally men) want to know why these corroborating witnesses were not interviewed. That leads us to this moment, with FBI director Christopher Wray sitting before former prosecutor Harris at a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing, Wray’s first appearance before any Senate committee since the sham investigation. Sen. Harris wasted no time getting to the facts of the matter: the White House most definitely limited the scope of the investigation and did NOT investigate any allegations of perjury by Kavanaugh's, something that should have been disqualifying by itself.
Watch this four-minute clip of Sen. Kamala Harris cutting right to the matter and getting the facts. Note that Wray was hesitant to say whether the White House’s order to limit the scope of the investigation was in writing.
