WHEN THEY GO LOW, WE GO VOTE!
Thank you to proreviewer yesterday for providing this link when I said I wished the same people who did the women’s march would organize the same type of event for election day.
There is a March on the Polls planned. Let’s spread the word. Especially after the Kavanaugh loss, many of us are fearful that the Republicans will use every trick and strategem to depress turnout and tamper with votes.
Those fears are real and grounded in history. The GOP has managed to seize all the levers of power despite being a “minority” population. They have done it with single minded determination and a disregard for democratic norms.
Lately, many on the Democratic side have urged us to eschew the “go high” mantra and descend to the same tactics as the GOP. Many of us are understandably angry and frightened and want “our side” to fight back using the same divisive tactics and rhetoric as the GOP.
I understand. But that’s what Trump and the GOPutins want us to do. Trump and his GOP accomplices want us to descend into fighting and divisive rhetoric. They win when we are divided and fearful. They are better than we are at stoking fear and anger. We are better at love and hope and change. Let’s do what we are best at.
Let’s make Election Day into the same joyful show of love and unity that the Women’s March after inaugeration showed. Let’s join the March On the Polls.
Let’s turn out and vote in such huge numbers and with such passionate love for our country and it’s democratic ideals that we sweep those who have destroyed our country into the dustbin of history. Let’s do it without violence, fearlessly and without anger, with joy and purpose and above all LOVE. Love for country, love for fairness, love for democracy and our Constitutional ideals.
We women must take the lead in this. We welcome all men of good faith to join us in this cause. We have to raise our voices in passionate rebuttal to the hate and division that daily spews from the right. We have to drown out their voices, not by yelling louder and being more angry, but by coming together in the largest peaceful demonstration of voting power in the history of our nation. Maybe in the history of the world.
We can do it. Women united are an unstoppable force. (That’s why they work so hard to divide us, to make us “like them”.)
Let’s do it. Let’s show the nation and the world what women united can do. Let’s make Election Day into the largest peaceful demonstration of voting in the history of our country.
WHEN THEY GO LOW, WE GO VOTE!
March on the Polls
For some reason even though my links open, I don’t see the graphic title photo for March On the Polls — maybe someone can link it in a comment. . . Here’s what it looks like:
