First diary for me. I was feeling nostalgic tonight. With the movie just released about Queen and Freddie Mercury, I was listening and watching old YouTube videos of Queen. This group so inspired me as a preteen and teenager! I loved Freddie Mercury! There was something about him in particular that spoke truth to power. Contemplating whether to be or not, wanting somebody to love and proclaiming you're my best friend. As a naive kid I didn't even fathom that he was gay, as was it was called at the time, he was just awesome! I was in love with this amazing flamboyant personality! He spoke to me. Queen Night at the Opera was the first album I bought! And I knew every word to Bohemian Rhapsody at 10 years old! I was never able to see them in concert. I was too young and they were such a mega band that they were never close enough to attend a concert. But this group broke barriers! Another group that believed that a song could be longer than 3 minutes! And pushed back against the record industry to do their music their way! After listening to his voice again this evening I came across a song I hadn't heard in over 30 years. The song was "Liar"! And I thought that it would be such a befitting song for the Trump administration. That if Freddie Mercury was still with us he would be calling out the divisiveness that this American president was causing! Freddie wanted to be loved! As we all do! And he knew BS when he saw it! For that and his talent I loved him! And I accepted him exactly as he was! That's how everyone should be accepted! By their actions! So I think Freddie would agree that we all need to stand up for humanity and proclaim this administration liars! And I still think of Freddie Mercury as an amazing talent and person! It's amazing that with technology he's still with us!
