One dumbass right-wing nut job got what he deserved yesterday.
An aide to a Republican Florida politician was fired after suggesting two Parkland school shooting survivors who are the subject of conspiracy theories are "crisis actors."
In an email, Benjamin A. Kelly, district secretary for Florida State Rep. Shawn Harrison who represents Hillsborough County, said that two students – David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez "are not students here but actors that travel to various crisis when they happen.”
If you’re going to be an idiot, you may want to consider whether you should involve traumatized children in your idiocy. Ben Kelly is no clueless “district secretary” either. He’s a 61 year old Republican pol, described in the Tampa Bay Times article as a longtime aide and friend of state Sen. Jim Norman, R-Tampa, in addition to his current job of retweeting vile conspiracy theories.
The email, sent through the state’s email service, was sent by Mr. Kelly to Tampa Bay Times reporter, Alex Leary:
Leary tweeted about the email he received from Kelly. It had a screenshot of two Marjory Stoneman Douglas students being interviewed on television and said the students were actors.
I guess Social Media does have its uses after all. It provides right-wing Republican nutcases an opportunity to put their true character on display for all the world to see. Oh, but if only we could see what doesn’t get published or picked up by news organizations, all those texts and posts that probably flew back and forth in this same Republican legislator's office, for all we know. I mean, if your district secretary is a nut case all primed and ready to unload—in his official capacity-- this conspiracy garbage to a news service, what does that say about you?
Kelly on Twitter said he "made a mistake."
"I meant no disrespect to the students or parents of Parkland," he wrote on Twitter before deleting his account.
Yeah. Fuck you.
