One lazy RW dimwit at CBS News decided to recycle a meme from 2016 when the Washington Examiner decided to compare HRC to Palin. This time, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) comes under attack because … socialism.
Only reactionary pundits could make such a stupid comparison but perhaps he thought it would trigger more than a few Dems afraid of “socialism”, and maybe Rich Lowry would get some starbursts.
Nonsensical is the comparison, but the ad hominem meme will forever remain, until RWNJs figure out that the obverse example of such a simile might be “the Jill Stein of the Right” or “the Betsy DeVos of the intelligentsia”?
No need to repeat the usual, fallacious objections easily answered, such as “how do you pay for all those idealized programs” etc.
The extraordinary focus on a neophyte nominee is in part due to the unusual circumstance of an incumbent being dislodged at all in America’s top-heavy system, much less by a very young woman of color.
But critics keep returning to just one way in which Ocasio-Cortez has distinguished herself from the multitude of Democratic candidates this cycle: She identifies as a socialist.
At any rate, Crowley is on the record as not wanting to either fake-run for some other office or pretend-move to Virginia, saying he sees both as dishonest. (His third option, dying, similarly lacks appeal.) And so Crowley will be on the ballot in November. But since he’s not actively campaigning, nobody seems to think he imperils Ocasio-Cortez’s candidacy. But these convoluted threads are just the prologue to another, more important big fight: the gubernatorial election.
