There are some parallels between myself and Christine Ford: We were both teens, it was a single, isolated incident, we were both caught off guard, and it affected the rest of our lives. We didn't press charges. We were both deeply wounded and we told our therapists many years later what happened. We were both assaulted by someone stronger and male who knew exactly what they were doing.
I was assaulted by a former diplomat. He was in his early 30's. There were no witnesses. It took me 23 years before I told anyone on the face of the earth what happened.
Brett Kavanaugh was 17 when he allegedly assualted a 15 year old. He was not a child. He could have served in the military with his parent's permission at 17. Nor was he an idiot. He was well educated in the best schools.
Sexual assault is not harrassment. It's violence by someone who is trying to force you physically and emotionally to do something you don't want to do.
God Bless You Christine Ford for having the courage to stand up in public to evil and cowardice. Your valor and bravery is an inspiration to us all!
