Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D. MA) in support of these Democrats’ campaigns:
Republicans are scared to face the voters this November.
So they’re calling in the cavalry – asking their biggest donors to sling the filthiest mud against some of our strongest Democratic candidates.
Paul Ryan’s pet Super PAC is flooding the airwaves with false attacks – and in some cases dog-whistle garbage – in districts that will help decide whether Democrats win back the House.
Our team watches closely to see where we can make the biggest impact in races across the country – and right now, it’s helping to defend these three Democratic House candidates in Nebraska, Kentucky, and Ohio from the Super PAC smears.
Will you chip in $4, or whatever you can afford, to help these three Democratic House candidates – Kara Eastman, Amy McGrath, and Aftab Pureval – fight back?
Paul Ryan’s Super PAC – the Congressional Leadership Fund – has raised over $100 million from sources like Sheldon Adelson, Koch Industries, and Big Oil.
A recent New York Times story explained that lots of their megadonors benefited from the Republicans’ $1.5 trillion tax scam. They grab tax breaks with one hand – and shove campaign cash at Republicans with the other.
Now they’re attacking Democrats like Kara Eastman in Nebraska – a first-time candidate who’s fighting for strong progressive values. She’s dedicated her life’s work to serving others, including starting a nonprofit housing organization, Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance.
But get this: the right-wing Super PAC is attacking her for supporting Medicare for All and opposing Donald Trump’s $1.5 trillion tax scam.
And they’re attacking Amy McGrath in Kentucky. Amy was the first female Marine to fly in an F/A-18 on a combat mission. She’s served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and now she’s fighting to serve the 6th district.
But the Super PAC ad against Amy has her side-by-side with a spooky-looking, poorly-lit picture of me, treating me like a liberal boogeywoman. Look: Amy’s tough and independent. She won’t take orders from anyone in Washington. And nothing will stop her from fighting for working families.
And the worst attacks might be against Aftab Pureval in Ohio. Aftab was born and raised in Southwest Ohio, was the student body president at Ohio State, and has earned bipartisan praise for his reforms as the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts.
But the Super PAC ad against Aftab – just the latest in a series of racist ads – calls him a “radical” and “a risk our families can’t take.” The powerful interests will say anything to stop a candidate with a proven record of getting corruption out of government.
We’ve been through this before. Dark-money groups – funded by right-wing billionaires – have dumped buckets of money into nasty attack ads against me.
We’ve been able to fight back because we’re a grassroots army, chipping in a few donations at a time.
Now, it’s time to help Kara, Amy, and Aftab – please make a contribution today to help them fight back against the Super PAC attack ads.
Thanks for being a part of this,
Elizabeth
