Eric Coleman is running for State Senate in a very red district here in TN.
You can find several articles he has written here at Daily Kos — ColemanforTN32.
He gets a good reception wherever he goes, and some of my favorite progressive bloggers have good things to say about him.
Here he is with his BFF — “Best Furry Friend”.
Special Elections are a great way for Democrats to slip in and win elections that can sometimes seem unwinnable. A few Democrats have come very close in the past years here in Tennessee; losing by only a few hundred votes in very RED districts. They did this with little or no help from the Party either, just as Eric Coleman is doing. Don’t get me started on the Democratic Party apparatus, it gets my heart rate going but doesn’t burn calories, so what’s the point?
Instead I’ll do what Dr. William Reid of 90for90 has taught me — “drop down and go around”. Eric Coleman is a supporter of 90for90 as well, so he is taking it to the people, in the style that won Dr. Reid a seat as the first Black member of the Virginia Assembly.
Our own TonyTheDemocrat has jumped in with his Postcards to Voters (facebook here) to help Eric Coleman out. TonyTheDemocrat takes it straight to the voters and is, as far as I know, the only purely non profit group who does this. With great success.
Everyone who participates reports having a good time doing the postcards also. You can do them by yourself, in a group, in a group over dinner, in a group in a bar, you get the picture. Have a good time and help win an election.
So, whether it’s donating to Eric Coleman’s campaign or helping out with some Postcards To Voters, please think about us here in TN. We have five (5) Democratic Senators here. 5 out of 33! We have one Independent, but please, help us out here!
