Per New York Times story: The Trump administration is considering narrowly defining gender as a biological, immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth, the most drastic move yet in a governmentwide effort to roll back recognition and protections of transgender people under federal civil rights law.
In my experience, the average American doesn’t have a clue what REAL transgender issue are. So they rely on demagogues, like the current President of the United States, who politicize the issue, and trample over transgender people so they can get a few votes. How cynical.
Let me give you my experience with transgender issues. I was, among other titles, Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer, CPA, for a company that employed around 200 people. I had a transgender employee work for us. Let me explain why he decided to become her.
(In order to protect identity, the person’s name and the work position held are all made up-the rest is true.)
I will call this person, Alex. Alex worked in the fabrication department. When he was born, he was born with both male and female genitalia. Alex’s parents and doctors decided he should be a male, so the doctors did what the doctors had to do and made Alex a male.
Alex was in his mid twenties when he worked for us. He had major health issues. His body was generating female hormones. Alex had been taking major doses of steroids to suppress his bodies natural hormone production. It seems that while Alex’s parents and doctors had decided Alex would be a male, God decided he really was a female. Alex had a choice to make-he could continue taking the large dosages of steroids, which means most likely sooner or later this would trigger cancer, or he could have a sex change operation and become a women.
To make a long story shorter, Alex became a woman, Alice, left the company and entered into a professional occupation. She looks like a female now and finally is happy with who she is.
To force Alice into a men’s bathroom is nothing but cruel and unusual punishment. Ignorance and fear feed this issue. As a nation-do we not have any compassion for our fellow human being?
