- The Rachel Carson Prize is an international environmental award awarded every two years in Stavanger.
- The prize was founded in 1991, and Greta Thunberg is the 15th recipient of the prize .
- The award is awarded to a woman who has made a significant and courageous effort for the environment nationally or internationally.
- The award is named after marine biologist Rachel Carson (1907–1964) to commemorate her courageous efforts to warn against the use of chemical insecticides and their harm to the balance of nature, as well as her epoch-making book, "Silent Spring," 1962.
- It consists of a sum of money and the bronze statue "Skarven" by the artist Irma Bruun Hodne.
