Of course an anti-abortion fanatic can break all Ten Commandments. To make this scenario more interesting, each violation of a commandment should be in the service of the so-called “pro-life” cause.
I will try to fill in the easy ones. I hope that in the comments some of you will fill in the other ones.
I’m going by the Catholic order mainly because I am Catholic, at least officially. Which means I probably should have gone by Deuteronomy rather than Exodus, and maybe not King James.
- Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. Like maybe a graven image of a 2-month fetus?
- Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
- Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Such as maybe commit crimes against Planned Parenthood on the sabbath.
- Honour thy father and thy mother.
- Thou shalt not kill. The anti-abortion fanatics forget this is a complete quotation. There is no exemption for abortion doctors. And of course they also conveniently forget that while all Planned Parenthood locations offer vital prenatal and neonatal care services, some are not equipped for abortion. Without the Affordable Care Act, more poor women rely on Planned Parenthood.
- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
- Thou shalt not steal. This could be breaking into a Planned Parenthood facility to steal medical records. It could also be to steal supplies that could be used in an abortion procedure, but which could also just as easily be used for prenatal care.
- Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. “Neighbour” does not necessarily have to be someone whose house is next to yours. It can be a Planned Parenthood official, and to “bear false witness” can be to pretend to be a buyer from a human biologics company looking to acquire tissue from aborted fetuses, so that you can obtain shocking undercover footage. To further compound the deception, edit the footage in a misleading manner.
- Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife.
- Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, …, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
We have to acknowledge that just because Jesus is not recorded as saying anything about abortion, it does not necessarily mean He never did speak on the subject. And surely He has an opinion on abortion.
But modern anti-abortion activism has never been about Jesus or the Bible. It is just another weapon in rich people’s armory of class warfare, a distraction from the part the very wealthy play in maintaining a status quo that does not much care about children once they’ve left the womb.
