Running to the base...

Sat Oct 09, 2004 at 10:30:46 AM PDT

Last night Greenfeld (I think it was Greenfeld) of CNN said that basically Bush was running to his base, seeking to get them fired up once again, while Kerry was tending to the center.

I know Grover Norquist thinks this is a winner, but in an electorate that is so motivated (and the consensus seems to be that all the electorate is highly motivated this year) can Bush really win with just his base?

As importantly:

Shouldn't some Kerry functionaries be pointing this out and using it in ads are as talking points?

"Bush abandons middle America, seeks reelection on the backs of the far right?"

"Bush's reelection plan is about stoking the fires of right wing bigotry and not reaching out"

"Reaching out?  Bush instead shoves Middle America aside for his narrow base?  Is that what we want in America?"

We should be making hay on this!
