Go hug someone

Call me a defeatist, fine. i don't care. Fact is, we lost the popular vote. We've lost Ohio barring any major developments or proof of fraud (yes, I've already seen everything in the diaries and I'm not convinced). I will follow John Kerry in whatever he decides to do, but I fully expect to hear a concession speech later this morning.

We're all in a bad spot now. No, not us Kossaks. Not us liberals. Not those of us who voted for Kerry. I mean all of us - everyone in the world. This is going to be a bad time, and there's very little we can do about that now. Now I just want to hold on to the things we have left. I want to remember that there are good people in the world and that Bush does not rule the world and that we are still a great nation in the midst of a darker period of our history. So today I'm going to enjoy life as much as I can and remember why it's worth living even under the new Bush administration. I'm going to kiss my girlfriend and tell her how wonderful she is. I'm going to hug my younger brothers and sister and tell them some of the wonderful things about what this country is supposed to stand for, and how freedom and justice have always triumphed even after the darkest night. I'm going to read the constitution and remember what the spirit, if not the government, of this nation will always stand for. I'm going to smell flowers. I'm going to cry and not care about how it looks. I'm going to laugh too. I'm going to offer random compliments to strangers I meet on the street. I'm going to spin around in circles until I get dizzy and fall down, which is much more fun than it sounds. I'm going to to stand up and salute the flag proudly and know that I will never abandon it to these faux patriots who stand in the white house. I'm going to dance. I'm going to be happy.

Yesterday is over. Today is a new day. And the sun rises.
