The Men is remarkable in that it was Marlon Brando's Hollywood debut, and it's about disability, and addresses prejudice against disabled people. Great performances by Brando and Teresa Wright, a wonderful actress.
Act of Violence is great and dark. It turns issues of morality on their ear. Robert Ryan and Van Heflin were POWs in the same German camp. Who did the right thing? Watching these two actors is always a treat.
But both movies speak to how our country treats its soldiers.
Oh, and Zinneman also directed Oklahoma! go figure. It's playing right now. It's worth seeing for Rod Steiger alone.
